Today, we highlight our time tracking software – Toggl. I’ll be honest and tell you that I haven’t done a lot of research on time tracking tools; however, when I discovered Toggl, I knew I had a winner.
Time tracking definitely falls under that list of tasks that you know you should be doing but sometimes fail to do on a regular basis. Toggl makes tracking time second nature almost removing the need for discipline. First, they have apps on the web, iOS, Android, Mac, and Windows. No matter your preferred mode of work, Toggl is right there to track your time. Integrations is the second place Toggl excels. Just take a quick look at their integrations page. My favorite integration is the browser integration that pretty much places Toggl everywhere including Asana! While browsing tasks in Asana, I can see Toggl’s logo and simply click it to start tracking time against that particular task.
Pulling reports is easily one of the most hated tasks for most jobs. Thankfully, Toggl makes reporting super easy. On the 1st of every month, we invoice our clients which includes website maintenance. Toggl provides some great filtering options that allow me to view a summary of all billable work tied to each client. I then take those client totals and create the invoices in Xero. The way Toggl allows us to track time combined with the reporting saves us at least an hour or two each month.
It’s always great to audit your tools and make sure they provide the value you seek. The Urban Geeks use tools that simplify many aspects of our business. Toggl meets the above requirement on all fronts. Right now, we are still utilizing their free plan. Just like Asana, I’m pretty sure we’re going to hit a point where we do upgrade our Toggl account to take advantage of even more great features. What are your thoughts? How do you track your time? We’d love to hear from you.
